Photographing Hideki Uemura's Tune Surgery for the last two years running, at St. Luke's Church in Chelsea, London has been a great joy for me. More photographs at Tune Surgery 3 web site
I take immense pleasure in capturing the emotion of the very talented artists, both at work and at play.

Covering the rehearsals is great as not only do I learn where the best place to be will be for the performance but it gives me a chance to get to know the performers and find some great angle.
The same as on film sets, I use a sound blimp for the actual performance which makes the noise of the camera totally inaudible.
Again during the performance I make my movements very controlled and slow so as not to cause a distraction and can actually set up remote, sound deadened cameras, very close to the performers.
Another thing I love is the venues that most of these concerts take place in and I do my best to show their grandeur and splendor.
During rehersals you can also get angles which are impossible during the performance, here is Daniel Bull on the Cello.
Fees: For large events like these performances above I would I usually charge £250 and this includes, photographing the rehearsal the same day, my usual post production and colour matching on the photographs and a presentation DVD of full resolution masters with all personal usage rights. If any of the images are used commercially, i.e. CD covers, posters, internet based sales etc., then additional fees are by negotiation. I can also now offer to record staged event on video, using multiple 'wide screen' video cameras. This means that instead of a single shot video of the event, which most companies do, you will end up with a beautiful presentation DVD with titles and credits which will cut between a wide shot of the whole event to multiple close ups of the performers. With my film-making history, you know you will end up with a truly professional product. |
